Tips for visiting Sunflowers Fields Near Me in Washington DC
- Bring bug spray and sunscreen, especially on a hot day.
- Bring water and stay hydrated.
- Dress accordingly, pack a hat, and wear closed-toed shoes.
- Keep in mind that some farms don’t have bathrooms, and others have porta potties. Be sure you stop for a bathroom break before your visit.
- If you a visiting with kids, please note that most farms are not stroller friendly.
Sunflower Fields in Virginia:
Burnside Farms

Every year Burnside Farms opens its door for the Summer of Sunflowers. The farm features over 50 acres of beautiful sunflowers that you can admire. They also have a Sunflower Maze, hayrides, a playground, and an inflatable jump pad for kids to enjoy. An adult ticket admission allows you to pick three sunflowers to take home. Additional flowers can be purchased.
Auburn Farm Sunflower Patch

The Auburn Farm Sunflower Patch offers more than pick your own sunflowers. Their annual sunflower festival is packed with many fun kids activities, yard games, a corn maze, and weekly food vendors for the whole family to enjoy. An adult ticket admission allows you to pick ten sunflowers to take home.
Braehead Farms

Our kids really enjoyed visiting Braehead Farms every year for strawberry picking season. If you are planning a trip there, they also have a sunflower field where you can cut your own flower. The farm also feature a playground, slides, farm animals and many other attraction for kids to enjoy for a fee of $5. Great Country Farms

It’s peach and sunflower picking at Great Country Farms. Their summer pick your own season offers a variety of fruit choices, flowers, and fun outdoor activities for kids. In addition, you can expect to see some farm animals and enjoy live music if you are visiting on a weekend. Hollin Farms

Field of Flowers

Cullipher Farm Market

Sunflower Fields in Maryland:
Magnolia Meadow Farms

Magnolia is one of the best sunflower fields in Maryland. This year the farm will be kicking off their fall season starting September 19th and ticket sales will be release on July 8.
McKee-Beshers Wildlife Area

Season Start: The sunflowers are now in bloom
Cost: FREE
The sunflower field at the McKee-Beshers is officially in full bloom. If you are planning a visit soon, there are a few things I want you to keep in mind. The parking lot is limited, so you should plan to visit early in the day. The trail to get to the sunflower field can be confusing, I highly suggest you use the alltrails app or follow the exact location listed in there. One more thing, there’s no bathroom in there so make a stop before getting there.
Gaver Farm
Address: 5501 Detrick Rd, Mt Airy, MD 21771

Gaver Farm sunflowers field is scheduled to open on September of 2024!
The sunflower field near me in Maryland features a piano, a swing chair, and many other photo props. Also, during the fall season, the farm offers free hayrides to the apple picking and sunflower field. Their Fall Fun Fest features over 65 attractions such as a corn maze, farm animals, jumping pillow, pedal karts, playgrounds, giant slides, and much more. We visited last year and my kids had a blast, oh don’t leave without trying their cider slushy. I wish I can have one right now!
Summers Farms

This is one of my favorite outdoor places to go! It’s considered a “pick your own food” farm. Depending on the time of the season and what’s growing, you can drive around to different fields and pick your own fruit, vegetable, and even flowers! Make sure you check their website to see what’s in season, make reservations to visit the farm and stop by their indoor market for the BEST selection of in-season produce!
Rocky Point Creamery

This year Rocky Point Creamery is partnering with St. Jude Children’s Hospital. All of the donations they received from their Sunflower Field Picking will go directly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. This is a great location to stop by for ice cream, milkshakes, coffee, and of course the sunflower field.
The Sunflower Gardens
