Cartoon Network – the name strikes chords of nostalgia for most of us who grew up on the wonderful shows. Besides our kiddos, weare pretty enthusiastic viewers of Cartoon Network;so imagine our surprise and wonder when we discovered the Cartoon Network Hotel.
This hotel is furnished from top to bottom in all things Cartoon Network. It is a great place to get away if you want your kids to cut down on their screen time or show them how to balance and incorporate the great outdoors and their favorite shows together.
Besides the colorful lodging, thereare several other fun family-travel places near the Cartoon Network Hotel as well, and we’ll walk you through it all. Keep your seatbelts on!
Cartoon Network Hotel
Let’s discuss the hotel itself first!
Location: It is located on Lincoln Highway East, 4 miles east of Lancaster, PA, and a sweet 2-hour drive from the DMV.
Facilities:
- The Bearista Cafe (Dining)
- Toon Room (kid’s play area)
- Adventure Time Land of P’Oool and Splashville
The moment we entered the hotel, it was like stepping right into a TV (read: Mike Teavee but without all the stretching and size changes). The kids were sold within milliseconds.
- The rooms have different cartoon themes, and you can book whichever your family prefers.
- The Toon Room was complete with VR and an arcade for the older kids. There was also a separate interactive wall for active play for the younger ones so they don’t feel left out.
- The pools were also complete with splash pads, water slides, and a separate baby pool. The rooms, including restrooms, were well equipped and stocked.
Discounts:If you’re looking to book a weekend’s stay at the hotel, make sure to check out their website. They are offering a 10% discount on booking a room for a two-night stay at the hotel on selected dates in November and December.
Dutch Wonderland
Location: Right next to the hotel
Staying at the Cartoon Network was a wholesome experience on its own, but it isn’t complete unless you visit Dutch Wonderland
They have35 rides, complete with an Exploration Island and Lagoons, that the kids especially enjoyed because it brought the Dora out in them
Discount: The Cartoon Network Hotel provides a special discount, or should I say, the ‘Golden Ticket’ when you visit the Dutch Wonderland. You save 10% on your room each night!
The package also includes free general parking at the Dutch Wonderland so you can enjoy your weekend stay without worrying about other tickets.
Hersheypark
Location: located almost 30 miles from the Cartoon Network Hotel at 100 West Hersheypark Drive, Hershey in Pennsylvania.
Hey, we all love the chocolate of the same name, so how was this gonna be any different?
We thought we had had enough rides at the Dutch Wonderland, but we enjoyedHersheypark just as much, if not more.
It was a well-oiled amusement park, with even more rides and a whole separate waterpark. Hersheypark had rides fit for older people as well, so we had the most fun as a family here.
The live entertainment and classic amusement park snacks in the form of hotdogs and popcorn satisfied the inner (and outer, in the case of my kids) child in us.
Turkey Hill Experience
Location: Linden Street, Columbia in Pennsylvania.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
It’s every kid’s dream to become an ice cream truck owner or an ice cream maker; and to be honest, that sounds pretty tempting to us too.
We made this dream a reality for a day by having the full Turkey Hill Experience.
Turkey Hill had an interactive exhibit where they walked us through the entire process of making ice cream, even the comparatively non-fun parts of milk and cream delivery and filling of cartons.
The process incorporated lots of learning with fun. The kids thoroughly enjoyed learning about homogenization and pasteurization because of the hands-on experience.
We selected our own ingredients and developed a unique ice cream flavor at the Taste Lab, which we got to taste later. Let’s just say we would still prefer to eat the original Turkey Hill ice creams.
Taking a Train from Strasburg Rail Station
Fancying an escapade across the countryside sounds like something hard to do, especially when you live in the heart of a city. Guess what? It’s not!
Strasburg Rail Road is the oldest continuously operating station in America. You can choose your preferred accommodation, which ranges from President’s and first-class to open air and coach. The authentic steam train will take you on a ride across the picturesque countryside.
This was the kids’ first experience on a train, and they loved the classic 19th century feels. They had a lot of other experiences to offer, which came as a wonderful surprise. We tried the escape room, where the kids put their thinking caps on, trying to solve the Houdini mystery.
They had a general store, toy store, an eatery, and a separate play area for children that let kids enjoy while they learned all about the railway history of America.
Corn Cob Acres
Location: College Avenue, Mountville in Pennsylvania.
Discovering and getting a thrill out of the countryside continued as we got off at the last stop – the Corn Cob Acres.
It is an actual farm that boasts 50 thrilling activities guaranteed to be a unique experience for families.
There was so much to do for all age groups at the farm that we were quite overwhelmed trying to decide where to start.
We paid a reasonable price and had unlimited access to what is called a super playground. We tried bungee jumping and trampoline, face painting and gemstone mining, visiting the pumpkin alley, go-karting, and so much more!
The kids also had a wholesome experience feeding and taking care of the farm animals.
There was so much to do and so little time. The little ones absolutely did not want to leave the farm.
P.S:Families are catching on quickly to make this their Fall Family tradition because of the tons of activities offered.
