About Candytopia Tysons Corner

Candytopia Tysons Corner is the new popular candy-themed experience that features various exhibits, installations, and art pieces made entirely from candy. Visitors will be able to explore Candytopia starting March 17.

If you have watched the movie Willy Wonka & Chocolate Factory, you can imagine what Candytopia is about. The movie follows the story of a young boy named Charlie who wins a tour of a magical chocolate factory owned by the eccentric Willy Wonka. The movies showcase the fantastical world of the chocolate factory, filled with candy and other sweets. Our experience was very similar to the movie, it was fun for our kids, but it felt like the staff was constantly watching over them and telling them not to do this or that. So, you can imagine the experience we had!

The good news is that parking is free at any of the garages at Tysons Corner; However, garage E is the closest entrance if you’re heading to Candytopia. We parked at garage E, level 2, and walked directly from there without taking any elevators to the mall. It was a short 4-minute walk! (The parking garage E is right next to Hyatt Regency Hotel).

Where in Tysons Corner is Candytopia Located

Candytopia is on the lower level of Tysons Corner Center, right across from H&M. The closest entrance to Candytopia is from the Coastal Flats in the lower-level right in front of garage E. See the map below!

The Candytopia Experience

The Candytopia experience started as a “self-guided Tour” with a dance at the Candytopia Gate. It was enjoyable for my kids, who were the only ones there!  My kids danced along with the staff member and had fun showing their best moves before heading to their first rooms full of clocks.

In the clock room, we did a competition where you had to choose and stand underneath the clock you think is filled with Candy. Even though the clock my kids chose wasn’t full of sweet treats, they enjoyed the experience and the free candy.

Next, we walked under the magic light tunnel and explored the candy art walls, and the cherry blossom room’s candy samples as we continued to experience every Candytopia-themed room.

We also tried the “green screen” stations at most theme rooms. As you walk into Candytopia, don’t forget to scan the QR so you can take amazing photos throughout the candy museum.

With every corner offering a new and exciting treat, you’ll be sure to leave with a smile and a sugar rush in your veins if your experience is not like ours.

Candy Samples

Kids will love to sample the candy bucket in each of the 10 themed rooms. Visitors can take some candy with them as a souvenir or a treat for the road. I recommend you bring a small bag for your littles to place their candy in.

However, it’s important to note that signs throughout the exhibit remind visitors to be mindful of how many candy samples to take. It’s easy to get carried away with all the delicious treats on display, but respecting the guidelines and taking a reasonable amount is important.

There IS one candy box located in each room for everyone to enjoy sweet treats

The Candytopia Rooms in Tysons Corner

Every room in Candytopia is unique, and visitors will be captivated by the colorful, dream-like environments crafted of candy. There is something for everyone, no matter your age or sweet tooth size. Each themed room offers many photo opportunities and, of course, CANDY! 😊

Let’s take a walkthrough of these rooms:

The Magic Light Tunnel

The Magic Light Tunnel is not a room, It’s a tunnel. Illuminated with colorful lights creating a magical immersive experience. Visitors will walk through the fun tunnel to experience the candy wall art next.

Candy Wall Art

The Candy Wall is a unique art installation that combines creativity and confectionary. The exhibit’s sugary art pieces are created from candy. How cool, right? Before heading to the swings room, you will admire Beyonce, Cardi B, Prince, Monalisa, and many other celebrities’ candy art installations.

The Swings

Before checking out the Cherry Blossoms installation, the swings room is a fun, quick stop to rest your feet and take amazing photos with your friends or kids.

The Cherry Blossoms

After all, Candytopia is in the DMV area, and there is no way you will not notice the pretty cherry blossom trees and candy art wall. Check it out and take a picture or two.

The Giant 100 Emoji Swing

One of the highlights of Candytopia is the Giant 100 Emoji Swing, which is shaped like a popular emoji and creates great photo opportunities. However, swinging on it may be a bit challenging.

As you can see, the giant 100 is perfect for a family photo!

Ring Room

Swing from side to side at their colorful ring room and add to the playful and fun atmosphere of Candytopia.

The ring room was interesting

The Confetti Room

Keep your mouth close and don’t choke. Don’t get me wrong; this is our second favorite room at Candytopia.

One of the most popular ROOMS IS The confetti room

Under the Sea

Under the Sea at Candytopia is an ocean-themed room featuring new candy shark sculptures. Stand at an angle and take a 3D photo of the shark.

Under the sea is really fun for younger kids

The Sugar Rush

The sugar rush is one of the most unique and intriguing installations at Candytopia. After all the fun and sweet treats, it is time to do more photo ops at the Sugar Rush.

The Marshmallow Pit

The most exciting fun at Candytopia is the marshmallow pit. The fluffy balls (made of plastic) in the pit are big white foam pieces that provide enjoyment for children and adults who can roll around for a few minutes. Kids and adults must remove their shoes to enter the marshmallow pit. Please be mindful and be sure to wear clean socks. Afterward, visitors can collect more candy and explore the gift shop with sugary items and souvenirs to take home.

Things To Know

  1. Tickets must be purchased in advance! Candytopia does not offer walk-up tickets, so be aware.
  2. Strollers and large bags are not allowed. I spoke with the team, and they said it would be ok if a parent needed to bring a stroller with them. However, I don’t recommend it— Plan accordingly and bring your baby carrier instead.
  3. Candytopia is very KIDS-FRIENDLY, if your kids are older than nine years old.  Our kids had a fantastic time there. However, the staff was highly bothered by everything my kids were doing. Considering that my friend and I were the only people there with kids, I don’t know what we did to warrant this uncomfortable treatment. We didn’t feel welcome, which is sad because my kid had a great time, and we were looking forward to the experience.
  4. My daughter Mia said, “I didn’t like how the staff yelled at me; it made me uncomfortable.” I hope that as Candytopia settles into its new location, it will focus more on its staff training. The place has potential, but I have not yet decided if this is a place where I want to bring my kids again.
  5. This Sugary pop-up is designed for you to take as many pictures as you would like. Let’s keep it real! Candytopia is more like a selfie room. Bring your camera and have fun!
  6. Bring small candy bags for your kids to collect their sweet treats. Candytopia does not provide one.
  7. The confetti room was extremely FUN for my kids but was a choking hazard. At the confetti room, you’re instructed to pose to face the camera up in the ceiling while confetti are blown at you by a leaf blower. My daughter nearly choked as she ingested one or two pieces of confetti and started to cough. So be aware and ensure your little one mouth is closed.

Birthday Celebrations at Candytopia

Candytopia offers birthday party packages. The party includes a one-hour Candytopia experience, a birthday welcome, photo opportunities, and an estimation contest, followed by a celebration in the party room. Guests are allowed to bring their food, beverage, and decor. Candytopia features over a dozen interactive art installations and offers guests packaged candy samples and surprises.

The party room still needs to be set-up at the Tysons Corner location, but you can always inquire at Kisses@candytopia.com.

The Gift Shop at Candytopia

Are you ready for a sugar high that will last you for days? Then head over to the gift shop at Candytopia and treat yourself to some sweet souvenirs! The gift shop has everything from candy-themed t-shirts that make you look like a walking candy bar to keychains that keep your keys looking sweet.

And for those who want to take the Candytopia experience home, there’s a range of unique items like candy-themed jewelry, plush toys, and CANDY. Imagine having a giant gummy bear on your couch or a candy-inspired necklace that will make your friends drool with envy.

Mia is doing her best to get as many items from the gift shop

Candytopia’s colorful and creative displays of candy sculptures, paintings, and interactive rooms allow you to indulge your sweet tooth while exploring their imagination. The marshmallow pit provides even more opportunities for adventure and play. So, Candytopia is a must-see attraction for anyone who loves candy, creativity, and having fun.

If you check them out, let us know how your experience was! Thanks for keeping this mamma motivated.
