Cartoon Network Hotel Rebrands into Dutch Wonderland Inn

Table of Contents

The Cartoon Network Hotel in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has been a go-to spot for families who love immersive, character-themed stays since opening in 2020. But big changes are on the way. The property will officially close its doors as the Cartoon Network Hotel on January 1, 2026, and reopen in spring 2026 as the Dutch Wonderland Inn.

If you’ve been curious about what this means for your next family getaway, here’s the full breakdown of the rebrand, what’s changing, and what you can expect as a guest.

Why the Cartoon Network Hotel is Rebranding

There are a few key reasons behind this major change:

1. Licensing Agreements

The Cartoon Network theming was part of a licensing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, and that contract is not being renewed. Once it ends, the hotel has to transition to a new identity.

2. Alignment with Dutch Wonderland

The hotel is located right next to Dutch Wonderland amusement park, which is under the same parent company (Palace Entertainment). Rebranding the hotel as the Dutch Wonderland Inn allows for stronger “stay & play” packages and makes the hotel feel like a seamless extension of the theme park.

3. Cost and Guest Experience

Operating a licensed, IP-based hotel is expensive, from licensing fees to maintaining cartoon-themed décor. A refresh also provides the chance to update amenities and create an experience that better matches what today’s families are looking for.

What to Expect at the Dutch Wonderland Inn

When the new Dutch Wonderland Inn opens in March 2026, families can expect:

  • 155 guest rooms designed for families, including four themed suites.

  • Indoor & outdoor pools with splash pads and water slides.

  • An arcade and family-friendly dining options.

  • Character theming tied to Dutch Wonderland’s mascots, like Duke the Dragon and Princess Brooke.

  • Stay & Play Packages that include up to three single-day park tickets bundled with your room rate.

What This Means for Guests

Before the Rebrand (Now through Dec 31, 2025)

  • This is the last chance to book a stay under the Cartoon Network theme.

  • Expect demand to pick up from fans who want one final visit.

  • Some services may start to wind down as renovations prepare to kick off.

During Transition (Jan – March 2026)

  • The hotel will close for renovations starting in January. No reservations will be accepted during this time.

After the Rebrand (Spring 2026 onward)

  • Expect a fresh new look, more park tie-ins, and updated rooms.

  • Themed experiences will shift away from Cartoon Network shows and toward Dutch Wonderland characters.

  • Packages will heavily focus on combining hotel + park visits, making it easier for families planning a full weekend trip.

Since opening in 2020, the Cartoon Network Hotel has received its fair share of criticism from claims of false advertising due to its motel-style room setup to complaints about cleanliness and maintenance. Many guests expected a more upscale, fully immersive resort experience than what was delivered.

However, despite these issues, the hotel remained a fun and memorable experience for kids who grew up watching Cartoon Network. The themed décor, character interactions, and nostalgic atmosphere made it a special place for families.

With the upcoming transformation into the Dutch Wonderland Inn, guests can expect a refreshed experience, elevated amenities, and a stronger focus on outstanding service. This rebrand marks the end of a nostalgic era and the beginning of a new chapter one designed to offer families a more cohesive and polished “stay & play” getaway.
