From skiing to horseback riding and more, Massanutten Resort is the perfect winter or summer playground for the mountain enthusiast. Located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, Massanutten 4 Season Resort offers a variety of accommodations, activities for the whole family, and the chance to make unforgettable memories. To better help your family plan a fun weekend getaway or an annual family vacation. I am sharing my personal recommendation on where to stay, things to do nearby, and of course the Massanutten Resort Review.
Types of Accommodations at Massanutten Resort.
Massanutten Resort offers visitors a variety of accommodations to choose from. Massanutten Resort Hotel offer accommodations for up to 4 occupants with a choice of 1 king size bed or two queen size bed. All the rooms included the standard accommodation amenities like coffee maker, microwaves, and a small refrigerator. However, this is not the Massanutten Resort stay you want to choose for your family. We did not have a pleasant experience during our first trip back in 2019. Our rooms were outdated, nothing was working, it smelled terrible, and the beds were stained. Yes!! I didn’t want to sleep in those bed.
Don’t worry, I will share a better stay option.
Where to Stay Near Massanutten Resort?
The resort has sprawling condominiums, townhouses, and vacation rentals that feature one, two, and three bedrooms. On our second trip to the resort back in 2021, we stayed at the Woodstone Meadows Valley Condo on a Massanutten timeshare. These condos can’t accommodate large families or pets. If you prefer the luxuries of home, there is also a large selection of fully furnished vacation homes available. However, our favorite vacation rental is the Mountain Escape Property, which is not affiliated with Massanutten Resort.

The Mountain Escape Vacation Rental is a modern cabin found in the heart of the 4 season Massanutten Resort. The newly renovated cabin is 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathroom and accommodates up to 10 people making it a great pick for larger families. This time around we traveled with friends and as always, we had a blast.
A Little Info About the House:
Kitchen area: A spacious cooking area is available for guests with all the essential things you will need to cook your own meal. I will suggest you bring things like plastic plates, cups, utensils, cooking oil, and your favorite seasoning. But if you’re looking for more luxurious and unique dining, consider treating yourself to a personal chef experience. Yes – with your reservation, you can hire a personal chef!! How cool, right? We didn’t hire a chef during our time there as we brought groceries to cook in the house and save some money. But I thought it was a great offering from the property owners.
Their skilled chef will prepare and serve a delicious meal right in front of you, providing you with the ultimate dining experience without leaving the comfort of your vacation rental. Pretty cool; we will have to experience this next time!

Bedrooms area: Every bedroom in this house is roomy and cozy! Let me start with the lower level bedroom suite, full bathroom, living room area, game room area, and two additional air mattresses, in case you have one or two extra guests. Also, did I mention the lower level has its own outdoor deck entrance and oversized HOT TUB. We enjoy so much time!
Our friends had this whole floor to themselves— to be very specific, there is a family of four (two adults and twins baby girls).

Okay, moving on to the main level— My husband and I had this floor to ourselves. I know you’re probably wondering where our kids are. On the main level, you will find the kitchen area, laundry room, and desk area (for those that need to work remotely). There is also a second master suite, dining area, living room, a very nice outdoor deck with rocking chairs, tables, and outstanding views of the Massanutten Resort Slopes, and two additional decks with seating areas and fire pits. I set up the Pack N-Play in our room for our baby Max to sleep comfortably, and we brought heavy blankets from home.

Now the upper level— our kids had this whole floor for themselves. It features two bedrooms with one full-size bed, and the other room has two twin-size beds. They also had a lovely bathroom as well. So, we were all very comfortable in our own little space area, which is a plus when you are traveling with groups of friends and family.
Pro Tips: The blanket cover in the house is super thin. If you are traveling during winter, I recommend you bring one or two heavy blankets.

Dining area: The dining table was perfect for our group size. It seated exactly 8 people, and we had no issue enjoying our breakfast, lunch, and dinner as a family. If you have more than 8 people in your group, there’s another dining table in the main level outdoor area that can seat up to 6 people.
Game Room Area: Our kids and the hubbies spent the majority of their time experiencing the fully equipped game room. It consists of a pool table, air hockey table, and an ultramodern integrated gaming system smart TV. This room has everything you need for a thrilling gaming experience. The TV is equipped with a complimentary Amazon Luna and Netflix subscription. There was no need to sign into anything on any of the tv in the house.

Outdoor Deck Area: The lower-level deck made us very happy with the larger hot tub and stunning views. These expansive outdoor spaces were designed with us, I mean the “guest,” in mind. They were offering plenty of room to relax and take in the fresh air. Each deck is surrounded by lush greenery, providing a serene and peaceful environment for you to unwind.

For those who enjoy cozy outdoor gatherings, they also offer an outdoor enclosed chimney/fire pit deck area. This area is perfect for cooler evenings, as you can warm yourself by the fire while enjoying comfortable seating for up to 8 people. I intended to roast marshmallows with the kids, but everyone was busy doing their own thing. Savor the experience of outdoor living at its finest, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the sounds of the great outdoors.

The Massanutten Resort Review
We have visited the resort every year since 2019 and we’ve experience it all! Massanutten is one of our go to resorts during the winter season and our kids have a lot of fun at the indoor waterpark as well as snow tubbing. However, for a large family, it is a very expensive experience if you are looking to really explore everything the resort has to offer. If you are a nature lover, they’re so many hiking trails and other things to do nearby. So, you don’t really have to do all of the activities the resort offers. The restaurants on the property are a hit or miss, save your money and cook if you can. If you have any other questions about the resort, leave a comment or send me a message in Instagram.
Pro tips: Download the app to easily buy tickets for the waterpark, snow tubbing, and skiing. View all the events happening in the resort and other activities you can do while you are there. I found the app more user-friendly than their confusing website.
